This letter refers to The Hindu editorial “Putting dynasty before party”(May 26th).Even after the shameful defeat of the dynasty remote controlled Congress party in the 2014 election ,the congress party failed to diagnose itself of the detachment of the people for its worst ever defeat .UPA 2 was a disaster and people rightly read the writing on the wall and favoured NDA and Sri Narendra Modi as Prime Minister of the country to govern the country for its dynamic growth . Sri Milind Deora and several other young people in Congress Party face lack of avenues for free expression . These young leaders will never be allowed to rise to the level to lead the party so long the congress party is in the grip of Nehru Gandhi family. Thanks to the 2014 electoral mandate for rejecting dynasty rules that would have been a total disaster to the country if the Congress Party is reelected to rule again for five more years. The politically conscious people of India loved the nation and defeated the congress party and elected NDA and a dynamic leader Sri Modi as PM to govern the country. Our request to political parties opposing the new government is to allow the NDA government to achieve the aspirational India and its people without road blocks.

The accident in NLC killing a Chief Manager and seriously injuring a few others is a warning that the Thermal Power station 1 is not safe to run at maximum installed load of 600 MW..Life extension of the TS 1 ,units carried out in march 1992 ensured only to run the units in maximum capacity without enhancing the safety aspects to higher levels as many other accident areas like cables in cable galleries, high pressure steam lines , high and extra high voltage indoor and out doors switchgears etc in all units remained the same and old. . No power stations in any where in the world, a Nuclear or a Thermal power station is hundred percent safe in its any life.. In ageing plants accident rates are likely to increase further. In old plants, replacement or life extension of ageing plants or condition monitoring will not alter the safety aspects to higher levels. As an immediate measure to instill confidence in the working force it is important that the NLC management takes decision to run the TS1 units in reduced safe load after proper assessments of safety aspects of these units by experts.

One disagrees with BJP leader Arun Jaitley’s statement that Dr. Singh was a wise man but a poor leader (May 14). The BJP can say what it wants as it probably cannot digest the fact that “a weak PM” stayed on for 10 years. Dr. Singh was the Prime Minister in UPA-I but became an accidental Prime Minister in UPA-II.

The Supreme Court’s judgment (“SC quashes Kerala dam law,” May 8), which allows Tamil Nadu to raise the water level in the Mullaperiyar, is a victory for technology “that confirms that the dam is safe at 142 feet.” At the same time, residents of Idukki district should not voice their protest. Political parties in Kerala should gracefully accept this judgment, and the legal tussle between the two neighbouring States should end here.

This has reference to the latest interview of Sri Modi with Arnab Goswami . The first agenda if NDA wins, what people expect and repeatedly told by Sri Modi is development and good governance. Our borders with our hostile neighbouring countries especially with Pakistan should be peaceful for India’s economical growth. Attitude of new government if implemented as told by Sri Modi in the interview “no discussion with Pakistan amidst of noise of bombs and gun shots “may have to be changed for dynamic foreign policy with India opens to neighbours for talks for peace in this region.. At the same time India should have strong muscles to dictate to our neighbours for peace and for “no bomb noise or gun shots and no infiltrators ” in our borders. The Congress party and regional political Parties of North India should work as responsible political parties and should stop colouring Modi as dictator or minority hater and should allow NDA government if it forms the government for governing this country ,for development by ensuring stability growth and welfare of all Indians irrespective of religions ,castes and regions

The most offending adjectives like mass killer, Hitler, yamaraj, chaiwala ,khooni, maut ka saudagar ,chawkidar and many more are used against Modi ,the Prime Minster candidate of NDA without any consideration by all political parties . The congress party is in the forefront in the personal attack by using the most offending adjectives against Modi . Even his statement that illegal immigrants should be sent back to Bangladesh is exploited politically by Congress party. Is the Congress party really respecting India’s integrity and stability? Illegal immigrants are silent invaders. Respect the man Modi who will be the Prime Minster if the NDA wins.He may have more plus points than many who hate him

Filing an FIR for violating the representation of people Act 1951 by Mr Modi is hastily done and without examining the circumstances in which the election code was violated by him whether willfully or not and his intention of taking photo with his cell phone showing the inked finger in front of his party symbol was for canvassing for the party or not. It has also to be examined how so many micro phones were placed before him for the press conference and the location where the press conference was carried out.

THE HINDU dated 8th April 2014

It may not be right to indulge in speculation and spread anxiety that the BJP manifesto in particular will harm the minorities. Let us not create the feeling that a Modi wave means an anti-minority wave. There is no Modi wave as such. It is an anti-Congress wave. People are fed up with corruption, wrong economic policies and development not reaching the needy even though some fantastic schemes were launched by the UPA. Finally, our strong Constitution, impartial judiciary and the people will protect the country irrespective of the “ism.”

Hindutva vs caste
The policies of the Congress and the government have always been divisive, with flawed appeasement and division. The tragedy is that the poor in all communities remain poor even years after independence. It is important that the minorities feel comfortable under Hindu consolidation and that the benefits of development reach every Indian irrespective of religion, caste, language or States. Every one should feel that he or she is an Indian first. Religion and caste are secondary.
K.R. Viswanathan Pillai,

There are a few religion political parties in many states to safeguard the interests of Muslim, Christian, Sikhs and others. There are several caste parties in the states also looking after the welfare and interest of caste groups and others. In India Hindus form majority of the people. It is they and their political leaders and the constitution makers voluntarily decided that India remains for ever a secular state. At the same time our neighbouring countries adopted religious states. Minorities are persecuted and are made second class citizens in these countries .In spite all these provocations ,India remains secular and no political party can change this culture of tolerance and Indian nationalism and the secular strength of our constitution. The national political parties and state parties should ensure that the people of India irrespective of religion, caste, regions, and language are not let down by the administration at any time and at any place.

On 6th April morning a phone call was received from a member of AAP asking me to vote for Aam Aadmi Party. The caller has not identified. However I told the caller that AAP is spoiling a national Party to form a stable government. Corruption like so many other social evils cannot be fought by winning an election or securing power by AAP. It is a social evil which has to be fought legally. There are so many other serious social evils and forming of political parties to fight each of the evil is a futile attempt. The law of the country against all unlawful activities of criminals can't be substituted by AAP.We may have even to strengthen the law to impose severe punishments for corruption as it was done for rape.

After Independence we had a period where our politicians worked for unity of people of different religions and castes. Now what we see is that the leaders of almost all political parties are trying to split the people in the name of religion or caste for getting votes. Some parties call itself as secular to cheat the people. The greed for the seat of power or to retain the power is so mu ndia needs a stable government for development and for assertiveness in foreign matters. India has to be strong in defense to protect our territory from frequent encroachments from belligerent neighbours. It is likely that the terrorism from across the boarder may increase once the USA leaves from Afghanistan. People aspire for a change in government. No party except NDA can take the mantle of forming the next government. Though Sri Modi the PM candidate of NDA is often attacked with intemperate language, he is assertive and strong and has confidence in forming the next government. Any leader with abundance of assertiveness will often find him attacked. India needs a strong leader like him to lead the nation with a stable government. Let us accept the reality and let us not tarnish the image of this man as enemy of minority communities who should never be made the Prime Minister of this great country.ch that for these leaders the unity of the country is nothing for them. The seat of power sits on corruption

In a war of word competition for using rubbish languages, Indian politicians may get world award if it is constituted. Our leaders who are using all sorts of bad languages against their opponents are under public scrutiny. Freedom of speech does not mean that one can talk anything what comes in his/her mouth. One should have controls of speech and also avoid language of bad tastes in election meetings. The dignity and conscious of the country is affected by the politicians talking rubbish against opponents in all public meetings. People may have to think that these leaders are to be "treated in mental hospitals" for talking "rubbish" and they should not be sent to Parliament as law makers.

There is a saying that a free state should have three important sovereign functions with its ‘brain, muscle and heart ‘. The country should have brain for formulating wiser economical policies for development, it should have strong muscle to defend itself from aggression, and last it should have a heart to call a spade a spade in foreign policy matters. What made India to abstain from the UNHRC vote against Sri Lanka for a credible, international probe into the alleged human right violations in the last leg of civil war during 2009 is a matter of deep concern. Our country is helpless Personal attacks on any top leaders should be stopped forthwith by the political parties.
No body is happy with Mani Shankar Aiyar's "chaiwala" jibe at BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
It is wrong to make personal attacks on leaders when one of them is going to become the Prime Minister of this great democratic country., The Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi calling Sri Modi as Hitler ,shows the mindset of his hate against Sri Modi. He has called Modi “Chowkidhar” After 'impotent' jibe, Salman Khurshid compares Narendra Modi to a nursery kid. People should condemn it in strongest language. No body was born with silver spoon. People want messages of developments and employment opportunities from various political Party leaders. They should stop painting other party leaders with dirt when they themselves carry dirt in their faces.like rudderless ship without a captain.

The anger of the large number of people against corruption has been exploited by some individuals to form Aam Aadmi Party which does not believe in orderly society , respects no law , exhibits always anger and anarchy.A party relutant to follow the customs or rules of the nationand is hoisted by Mavericks. After the general election the AAp may have a natural death. Secularism is not a monopoly of any individual or any political parties. Some parties claim that their political parties are secular and for them some other parties are communal. Indian constitution has adopted the path of secularism and that no religion will be discriminated and all religion can flourish and function without interference within the limit of the law of our country. Similarly any individuals can practice the religion of his/her choices without fear and interference within the limit of the law.

In the last leg of the corrupt and inefficient UPA government, attempting to promulgate several ordinances shows its bankruptcy in quality thinking by it top leaders. No doubt smooth functioning of the parliament was seriously affected in the past three years and the democratic values were given a go by the ruling as well as the opposition parties, resulted in several bills could not be passed in the Parliament. People wish that a new responsible government formed after the election will ensure a credible administration. The supremacy of the Parliament and its functioning without disruption should be ensured by all political Parties

What is the personality? Your presentation yourself is important to crown your personality. It is not the appearance alone to crown your personality. Your movement, body language, the merit of your talk, the dress you wear all are important for enhancing personality. Your self image may be high but will not help personality. Your response to what you think and act is important.

The Aam Aadmi party followed disruptive politics and defied the hopes of the people in Delhi for an alternate efficient corruption free government. AAP leader Kejriwal is solely responsible for the failure of the party to govern Delhi within the conventional and constitutional procedures to fulfill the aspiration of the people. A day after resigning as Delhi CM the AAP leader said that if his party won even five seats in the Lok Sabha elections it would be enough to make life difficult for the Parliamentarians who represent communal corrupt criminal and dynastic politics. Perhaps AAP leader is turning to become “a judge and an executioner” for the Parliamentarians and is getting ready to disrupt the Parliamentary functions as he destroyed the Delhi administration. It is high time that Parliament enact law that any Parliamentarian disrupts the parliamentary proceeding will loose his or her parliamentary membership forthwith.

Our law makers are taking India on a ride. Discipline of our elected representatives is at the lowest ebb. Governing in many states and in centre has reached lowest end. The entire administration at the centre to do good works has come to a stand still. When the administration fails the country suffers. Important decisions like bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh for the formation of Telangana have been taken arbitrarily with an eye on the general election. It is a dangerous decision to create excessive feelings of regionalism damaging the unity and integrity of the people. When 680 million Indians lack means to meet their basic needs our political leaders engage in the bitter battle for regaining power by hook or crook even after hampering the unity and peace of our country.

One concern is that regional parties encourage narrow regional identities that threaten the integrity of the Indian state.Second concern is the regional parties may create instability at the centre when no national parties get working majority to form the government. Third concern is too many regional parties may wipe out the national parties. India’s instability is not creation of regional parties Coalition government is not destabilizing the country. Coalition government may help to bring uniform distribution of wealth to all regions for growth. More important factor is the quality of leadership. Multi-party government with good leadership may offer stable governance in a number of countries; however consensus in governance is only possible way out, but ideology of the multilevel parties should not drag the developments of the country. Regional parties should adopt the principle of inner democracy. At present almost all regional parties are family or individual parties. There is no inner democracy in any regional parties except left parties . Under this situation only national parties should take the leadership of Prime Minster, in the coalition government

It is most unfortunate that the Navy Chief Admiral Joshi resigned owning moral responsibility for the submarine accidents. The real reasons of the accident may be investigated and remedial measures are to be taken for preventing any accidents in submarines in future. Mere resignation of highly principled Admiral will not help to prevent further accidents in submarines. The cause and remedial measures taken of previous accidents in submarines are to be made public. Modernizing the submarine forces are overdue but government’s lethargy and fear of getting caught in corruption may perhaps undermining the procurement and modernizing our defense forces.

Chettikulangara Sree Bhagavathi temple is one of the most renowned temples in Kerala. On 6th March 2014 Kettukazcha on Kumbha Bharani day was celebrated. One of the spectacular show of craftsmanship, gigantic structures including `kuthira’ (horse motifs), theru (chariots) and mammoth idols of Bheema, Panchali and Hanuman were arranged on the ground in the evening for the `Kettukazhcha’ (display) attracting devotees from far-flung areas.

Aam Aadmi Party is making fun of the Constitution and suffering from political ‘jaundice’ seeing everyone and everything corrupt. It fails to administer Delhi as per the constitution and as per the wishes of the people of Delhi. Are the national parties playing’ monkey game’ with the AAP?.

Mayhem broke out inside the Lok Sabha on 13th Thursday when an expelled Congress MP from Andhra Pradesh used pepper spray to disrupt proceedings in Lok Sabha soon after the Telangana Bill was tabled. It is unfortunate and blots on democracy that the some MPs tuned into goons to create chaos inside the Parliament. The decision taken by Congress Party top leaders to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh into Telangana and Seenmandhra without the consensus of people in Andhra Pradesh was illogical .Congress top- leadership should not have taken a decision arbitrarily for conceding the separate statehood demand. The issue has been made now more complex by the Congress party. The only way out is to wait till next formation of the new government and find an amicable solution then to the vexed problem of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh involving all the major parties in the state .The Congress top leadership should never thrust its decision on the people of Andhra Pradesh. So hold the hands of the people of Andhra Pradesh rather than expecting

The best way to steer my life is to understand others, their positive as well as their negative attitudes and to direct my positive thoughts towards purposeful activitiesthem to accept what the Congress Party top leaders decide. That is the spirit of democracy.

The political debates are crossing the limits of decency. Spewing venoms by politicians are not auguring well which may create acrimony. Our country needs stability to grow, a government focuses in operational and administrative efficiency. In the past ten years the UPA government fails to connect with reality. Government fails in all fronts of developments because of corruptions. Quality in decisions is absent. Hallmark of good leadership is self confidence born out of deep understanding of reality. This quality is absent in the functioning of UPA government. People are disillusioned. People need a government which creates space for good administrations. Next election is an opportunity for decisive mandate to govern to fulfill the aspirations of the people for inclusive growth.

This has reference to the article “Dynasty versus democracy “The Hindu dated 31/01/2014. It is true that it is impossible to democratize Congress party when a member of Gandhi family holds powerful post in Congress party. The mere presenceof a dynasty family member encourages sycophancy. Many other political dynasties are flourishing in states politics, but these dynasties may not influence the national solidarity and character ,though dynasties even in states should never be allowed. When the question of governing the centre is concerned the dynastic politics should come to an end. Perhaps the young Rahul Gandhi can democratize the Congress party and that he makes the people to agree that the power has no attraction for him and the collective wisdom of the people to govern the country is supreme.

Relationship with any one should earn happiness in life. Expectation should never damage the root of relationship. Relationship and expectation should be well managed. When expectation grows beyond the giving capacity of dear one, the relationship gets weakened of no fault of the giver.

Only human beings are capable to assess, interpret and judge all events in life. It is the gift of god. Even we are able to interpret the Almighty in different ways. It is all possible because of our energy helps us to think. We are bombarded by immense energies externally. The solar, air, wind, gravity, atmospheric pressure and energies like electromagnetic waves etc are constantly falling on us and all these energies are necessary for sustaining life. We are also graced from the energy of God through the path of religions. We may get positive energy from talking to good people and negative from some . Our inner energy is the life that energizes the body to move forward. The mind is the driver. Unless all energies external and internal are synchronized to function within the parameters of our judgment or synchronized with nature, our mind will go astray and life will have problems

Temperament is the root of life but attitude is the branches like branches of trees that develops in course of time. Temperament should be healthy otherwise one may suffer in life. Temperament should be never volatile Temperament can grow making strong foundations in life .Attitudes can be pruned or changed depends on the circumstances or environment of your living but never to damage the healthy temperament which is the quality of life that you acquire from experiences and learnings i

Life is a game that aspires to give and take. If you love someone you should get back love that nourishes the life. Nothing is free in this world. If one feels that some one cares you at any point in life that helps to highest aspiration to live like he or she wants then the life is worth full. Some may cross your life event less “like passing clouds” which may be” rain less”. You expect nothing from them and also you need not love them also

It is in every Indians DNA that the guests are always welcome. At a time the cost of living is skyrocketing many Indians do not mind the visit of a few guests at their residents for a short while. But guests are not same in their intentions. Some guests make their host feel like "hit by a tsunami”. They expect too much from their hosts. They want the host or his representative to come all the way to railway station or airport to receive even though they have visited the place earlier several times. The poor host after taking leave and disrupting his/her official work, goes to receive the guests. Some enters the house with eyes searching for comfort, demanding several special treatments including food as if they are in five stared hotel. The hosts take it for making the guest in good spirit and happy. Finally the guest has to be dropped back at railway station or in the air port. But before leaving, some guests may request to part with a few thousands of rupees to meet their personal expenses. The host then has to pray for" free from demanding guests " year in 2014 and beyond.

The congress core group wants the ordinance to protect convicted lawmakers to be withdrawn and the centre has no option except to withdraw the ordinance. It is a welcome step and the humiliation heaped on the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by Sri Rahul Gandhi has been dosed out for the time being.. Sri Rahul Gandhi has to answer for undermining the Prime Minister and stabbing him at his back when the PM was on delicate meeting with Foreign dignitaries. Though ordinance to protect the convicted law makers was questionable legally or otherwise, Sri Rahul Gandhi should not have resorted to such out- burst against the PM. The reasoning has failed and outburst has Published in THE HINDU dated 26th Sep: 2013 in Letters to the Editor.

The interim order of the Supreme Court that essential services and benefits to the public should not be denied on the basis of non-enrollment in the Aadhaar project is welcome. For enrollment in the project, the NPR Number is asked for. For those who have lost/misplaced the Census 2011 slip, it is very difficult to get enrolled. In a country like India it is doubtful that a hundred per cent enrollment is possible. The Centre as usual may go in for appeal as a sizable amount has already been spent on the project. Personally, I feel the project is unnecessary.

Life has to go through several hurdles big and difficult. Yet we go forward without stopping anywhere. Wishing each of you a life to go over difficulties and of fine health with the grace of Lord Vinayaka.

No doubt the Food security bill may wipe out hunger and malnutrition of the poor but inclusion of large number of tax payers and well-to- do people as beneficiaries in the bill has defeated the very sanctity of the bill which costs the exchequer more than Rs 1.25 lakhs crore in a year,at a time, the economy is falling, and manufacturing, agriculture and service sectors are in the negative growths. Ultimately large quantity of procurement of food will be stalled or cut and benefits to the poor will be slashed. Inclusion of large number of well to do people for legally entitling the benefits is not at all political expediency but a political vote “game changer” to secure votes in the next election. The people are generally politically conscious and will not fall to this game.

The value of Rupee against USA Dollar is falling steeply. Our learned FM Sri Chidambaram consoles Indians that the value of rupee against dollar is not fixed and it is getting adjusted by falling down. I am not an economist but the ordinary people like me , may contradict the FM’s findings. The value of rupee may be volatile but falling steeply is perhaps due to flooding of market with cheep Indian rupee. The market is flooded with black money, ill-gotten money by corrupt means, and smuggled money perhaps from our hostile neighbors In the past two years the purchasing power of the people has come down and industries productions have slowed after the interest rates for the loans from bank were made high. Only solution to economical “push up” is to increase exports, reduce imports, including gold. Encourage people to change over to use 14 carrot gold ornaments. The manufacturing, service and agriculture sectors are to be made more productive by policy changes. More people should be added to
improve the purchasing power by providing one job minimum to each Indian poor family. in the political game.

Every one has some leadership qualities, but some are having more and excellent leadership qualities. In politics a leader without excellent qualities and virtues can become a national leader. What should he or she need only family title and support? There is no dearth of leaders of high quality in politics in India, but they will be never allowed to rise to lead the country. The country suffers because of poor leadership. Political party functionaries having openness, high perception and transparency should be allowed to take over the leadership of the major political parties. The virtues of leaders are discipline, synthesizing - ability to make judicious decision, creative, competitive driven, respectable, and highly ethical.

The National Food Security Bill 2013 was recently passed as an ordinance by the Union Cabinet. The bill aims to provide 5 Kg of food grains per person per month at subsidized prices from State Governments under the targeted public distribution system. Many states and opposition parties in Parliament are not in favour of the ordinance without any discussions in the Parliament. The ordinance was passed without considering the pros and cons of the food security of people and impacts in the states No doubt the intention of passing the ordinance hurriedly is to reach the people for votes in the next general election.

Similarly the Telangana formation issue is like a”Bermuda triangle” for the government and is fueling to intensify agitations in various states for formations of many small states. What is the necessity for announcement of the formation of Telangana state without giving sufficient thoughts of its impacts elsewhere, when the election is only a few months away? The Government should have waited till a new government is formed in the centre. Instead the government should have given more importance to curb price rise of essential commodities and taken steps to clear the economical mess that the country faces now highly ethical

No one wants death. The only event that is certain in life is the death. Even writing about death is not liked by any one. Medical advancements and treatments have helped to live longer with controlled diseases even in advanced ages. People are living beyond eighty with fairly good health by appropriate medical attention, regular treatments and healthy life style. Unfortunately not all aged people can afford the expensive medical treatments. Awareness of healthy life style should start from very young age

It is reported that a woman and her eight-month-old daughter were killed when a truck mowed them down while they were riding pillion on a motorcycle in Jaipur. Her husband and son had a miraculous escape. Why are Indians so apathy to save the life of others who cry for help? Do we have blinkers on when it comes to help others in need. Bystanders and several vehicles passed by the dying woman and child for sixty minutes till the Ambulance reached the spot Is any law prevents giving help to the accident victims by the public?. If so law should be amended to protect the bystanders who help the accident victims from getting entangled in legal battles. Let us not bother about the legal issues. Let us help the people who are victims of tragic accidents.

Sons and daughters of many aged parents in India are settled in faraway places from India. When their sons or daughters meet the parents for a while after a gap of a few years and for the aged parents and their children these days are the happiest occasions in their life. When the children leave the parents, the feeling of parents is difficult to be told. Life of aged is like a pendulum swinging in a vacuum not in a predetermined way.

What is the necessity of 5% dis-investments of the profit making NLC ? The people are experienced that the country’s natural resources have been surrendered to moneybags by the UPA government. Oil, gas, coal and other natural resources are vanishing from the nation’s custody to some big houses of industrialists. Though 5% divestment of NLC is meager but the question is what is need of disinvestment by the profit making NLC when every employee, all Trade Unions and the several political parties in Tamil Nadu object to the disinvestment. As a retired employee of NLC, I request the management of NLC to persuade UPA government not to go forward with the anti PSU policies of disinvestment

Telegram is no more. At a time when no internet, E-Mail or SMS were born; telegram played an important function in sending fast message and money. Greetings were having numbers. I used get telegraphic money orders every month from my father in Malaysia for my expenses in engineering college in Ranchi. I fear that the post offices in India may also follow the fate of telegram if it does not change it functional styles to the technological advancements.

Political class is to be blamed for the present feeling of the people right or wrong, that India is at the cross road. No one is safe in India. India has become the worst and unsafe place in the world even to stay for a while. The women and children are abused, raped, tortured and disfigured. The tourists are also not spared. Old and sick persons are exploited and many are neglected. Money laundering and cheating have become a profession of many in all states. The law enforcing and investigating authorities are silenced by political interferences. Many offenders are not caught and brought before law due to inaction of the police. Wide spread corruptions from top to bottom in all services are rampant and political corruptions eat all welfare measures that could otherwise improve the quality of the life of the people The rich people with patronage from political bosses are becoming richer by richer and the poor poorer by poorer. Caste and religion politics are showing its ugly heads to divide the people. Economy is in shambles and never shows sign of improvements in spite of interference from RBI. Terrorists and Naxals could strike at their will and pleasure at any place they choose. Hundreds of our brave soldiers/police forces and innocent people are killed by these anti national forces but government has no concrete steps to protect them by totally eliminating such anti nationals.
The intelligentsia and media are just watching without comments or actions against the onslaught on Indian democracy. The only hope is that our judiciary is still strong and impartial

A patient was brought to a city hospital in a critical condition. The family members asked the Doctor “will he survive”. The doctor jokingly said “the patient is safe till the purse dies”. The patient has not heard what the doctor said. Otherwise the patient would have died before his/her admission in the hospital .Medical treatments have become very expensive and beyond the reach of even middle class people. Specialist Doctors consultations fee has increased ten folds in ten years. Similarly hospitalization fees have increased considerably. Medicine costs especially life saving drugs have become very costly. Cash free treatment has become a hoax as the insurance company fails to honour the agreement in the medical insurance policy by raising several issues and blaming the hospitals for the delay in the payments. Ultimately what the doctor said is true that in all probability the patient and the family will financially “die” due to high expenses in the city hospital

Joint families are disappearing and all are creating their own islands. Most affected in these transformations to nuclear families are the senior citizens. Loneliness has become a major problem for the elders. Loneliness induces negative thoughts. Negative thoughts are to be shunned by creating frequent contacts with close ones, friends and relatives, Reading writing and social networking will help generating positive thoughts. Positive thoughts are necessary for building healthy mind and body

 SUCCESSFUL PERSON IN LIFE.

Who is a successful person in life? Some may say the successful person is the person makes lot of money in a very short time, or a person well known and accepted by all as a leader, or a person very handsome becomes very popular in the entertainments world or an athlete brings fame and name to the nation. From our experiences, these “successful” persons are normally not accessible to the ordinary citizens. Swami Vivekananda said “take up one idea and make that idea works for the betterment of the people in general.. That is the way to success” Successful life is only one percent of inspiration and ninety nine percent perspiration  The spark to engage yourself to serve others has to come within you. First you learn yourself before you try to learn others.Do not trespass into others life at any time.
The great scientists who discovered or invented to take the humanity to a technological world for the welfare of the people to live happily are really the successful persons but they are less known by others but they know themselves well

FUND COLLECTION FOR TNSS OFFICE BUILDING

I would like to thank the Chairman of the Land and Building Fund committee Sri M. Sivadhasan Pillai and his team for the yeomen service they have done to locate a land for the purchase in Kudrathur near Porur  for the construction of the Office and other buildings for TNSS.Distance of Kudrathur from Chennai should not be an issue. We need place for our office and if Nairs can come from distant places from Chennai ,Kudrathur is not  a far place for Nairs of Chennai. We have climbed only one step up by paying the advance for the land. The steps up are not cosy.Unless determined efforts are made we may not be able to proceed further. I hope the long cherished aspirations to have an Office building for the Nairs in Tamil Nadu  will be fulfilled in the near future.

The land may need a crore of rupees and the building initially needs at least fifty lakhs now.How are we going to get the money?. I feel the present Land and Building Committee under Sri M . Sivadhasan Pillai as Chairman should continue till the land is purchased and the money for building construction is arranged. We have full faith in this committee. Therefore it is necessary to extend all supports to the committee by all Nairs of Tamil Nadu by contributing enough money for the purchase of land and cost for the construction of our Office building etc.

My suggestion is that money has to be obtained not only from Nairs but also from rich Malayalees in Chennai and in Tamil Nadu and in Kerala. Explore the possibilities of getting contributions from Nairs working in Arab countries as they are fairly rich .Other Malayalees in Arab countries may also come forward to contribute if we put some effort. Our focus should be more on collecting money from other than Nairs and Malayalees living out side Chennai. Our experiences in collecting fund so far are training ground for further meeting people of different attitudes and temperaments. Direct communication though helfull makes differences but approaching and requesting for contributions frpm people through media should be thought of.  It may be necessary to go to Arab countries by a few committee members after contact is established .On line transfer of money through net banking, credit cards etc may be made available. For this TNSS may arrange any web site service provider without delay. If I am correct there are six lakhs Nairs in Tamil Nadu and perhaps one lakh Nair  families are so If each Nair family contributes Rs 1000/ TNSS may be able to get fund of Rs 10 crores. If ten thousand Nair families contribute then the collection will be Rs one crore. TNSS should stand up to them and the Nair families in TN will sure stand up to TNSS.

The most important factor where ever funds are collected is that the accounting and auditing  be totally transparent. The TNSS should ensure total transparency in accounting and auditing of the money received for the land and building fund. I think many of us do not know how much money was promised by members and what percentage was collected so far. In the TNSS web site the names of the people who contributed more that Rs 5000/should be shown. The names of the people who are reluctant/failed to contribute the money they promised may also be brought out. I wish you and your team a happy NEW YEAR 2013 and all success in fund collection for TNSS land and building. Fund

ABOUT TNSS  - A LETTER FROM A MEMBER.

As a social organization in the Tamil Nadu ,Tamil Nadu Nair Society is having a clear cut objective to fulfill the social needs of its community members as well to create a harmoniums atmosphere for its members to live in peace with people of other communities irrespective of their cast, language or religion .. Achievements of its objectives are a continuous process. TNSS as a social organization has to go a long way to  grow to its full potential as a social organisation.Consolidation of all Nairs under one umbrella I feel, is necessary under the changing social strategies. Unfortunately many Nairs are  not  members of TNSS. They are of the view that” what I gain if I am a member of TNSS” It is not the physical or social gains one has to attain from a social organization. It is the mental satisfaction one may get being in the larger family of Nairs. It is the smile he or she gets from the community members when they meet each other. Growth of social organization is different from the growth of political originations or political parties.Politcal parties have an objective or goal to catch the power to run the government. Success of political parties depends on the leader whose charisma plays an important role. Also the committed followers of the political parties play an important role for the growth of the political parties. Social organizations have no committed people as the political parties. It has nothing to offer except good will.. Dedicated people are the only source of strength of all social organizations. They need of the hour is the support and help from all its members to TNSS. Money is the structural strength of any social organization. The weakness of TNSS is its inability to collect donation from some of  its members or from the public. All the more the amount promised by remaining members of TNSS for the office building construction could not be collected till date.  Meeting the members for money collection  is to be frequented. Several well-to-do and highly placed Nairs promised huge amount to TNSS. No doubt they will keep up the promise made and amount will be paid early. Due to financial constraint TNSS is not in a position to construct its own office building. As the land cost goes high day after day I do not think in the near future TNSS will be able to get enough fund for construction of the office building. TNSS may think for rented or leased house for the office for the time being. till its own office is constructed It is high time TNSS shifts from the present location to a rented or leased premises..

TNSS as asocial organization has an important social role. I quote here what I read from the TNSS web site

These are the objective of TNSS or I call it social objectives.

1 Help deserving members in the matter of medical care.

2: Strengthen relations among the families of members.

3 Prepare the ground for a cultural renaissance.

4 Take help to members of the community and also other members of  society in times of natural calamities.

5 Help community members to find brides and bridegrooms for their children.

6Take assistance to community members for death-related and other religious ceremonies.

7 Establish TNSS units across Tamil Nadu and help in their efficient functioning.

All these objectives are fine, but Nairs as well as all Malayalees in TamilNadu, have to accept the fact that we are not transplanted people from Kerala to Tamil Nadu. Many Nairs were born, educated and secured jobs in this state. Our identity as Tamil Nadu Nairs have to be preserved and strengthened and TNSS has to work with other social organization not only Malayalee Associations but also with all other social organizations to achieve our social goal enabling to secure social benefits to the members of TNSS. At the same time maintaining our identity as Tamil Nadu Nairs is important. We should never be called as Tamil Nairs. Many young generations in our community has lost the culture of Nairs, leaving alone their inability to speak and write in Malayalam language. TNSS has an important role in this regard. Once the future generations of Nairs fail to speak in Malayalam then they will become Tamil Nairs. We have to learn from Tamil Brahmins of Kerala. They learn and write Malayalam, but they speak in their house only in Tamil. Wherever they are they preserve their culture. I have great regards for Tamil language and Tamilians. I want the identity of Nairs  to be maintained in Tamil Nadu from generations to generations Our unity is in our strength .TNSS has an important role to lay the foundations for the unity of Nairs, maintaining their identity as Nairs and to create an atmosphere that Nairs live in peace and serve Tamil Nadu as good citizens.

OUR EARTH

Our earth is smaller than a dot in the Universe. We in the earth are the tiniest atoms not even visible with the powerful microscope. But we make noises that thunder the earth and our painful actions tear the Universe. Are we so dangerous to the very existence of the earth?

When compassion incenses the mind you are sure to raise your hands to help others. Then you will be engulfed in the divine energy to do more for those who need help..

When compassion incenses the mind you are sure to raise your hands to help others. Then you will be engulfed in the divine energy to do more for those who need help..

In our life we may come across several arrogant people. The arrogant people think that they are more powerful than others and behave rudely. The arrogant people are having behavioral problems and feel that others do not deserve any respect. Persons who are arrogant are overbearing and haughty and do not want to hear others. With these people reasons fail. Bottom of Form 1

Hatredness poisons your mind but jealousy makes you sick. All people are jealous but some are more jealous which may harm their mind like all ill may not harm the health but some ill are dangerous to life. One must learn to control the jealousy by not reading too much of others life

Hatredness is a dangerous habit that makes easy to any one to poison oneself than to harm others. If you have any reasons to hate others, first try to understand the goodness in others and the short comings in yourself.Hatredness if not eschewed at younger age , may imprint wrong responses into the child’s subconscious mind and difficult to extricate himself from the dangerous habit of self defeat.Especially children are to be taught to respect others and their feelings

Days were gone when the best students from the Engineering colleges joined in PSUs.When I passed out from Birla Institute of Techonolgy ,Ranchi in 1959, I got offer from several PSUs,but I was then selective of the PSUs and I joined in Neyveli Lignite Corporation as NLC was then the jewel among the PSUs in South. The news (THE HINDU dated 2nd Dec: 2012 )PSUs fail to make an appearance at IIT-M placements indicate that the recruitment policy of the PSUs needs changes to attract the best Engineering students to PSUs. The work culture in PSUs is the best and job satisfaction and growth opportunities are high. PSUs salary is also reasonably high.

THE LITTLE ONE.

The little one Adithi rests on my chest,
To count the beat of my heart,
Says, Appooppa your heart is fine,
And I nod with a smile, Then joy of happiness is seen in her eyes,
I feel all children want the world of happiness,
In me the positive thoughts twinkle,
The days of shinning are still waiting,
Before I set in the darkness of permanent sleep

MY EXPERIENCES WITH TRUTH

God gives everyone right to live and grow,
Space between life and death is small
Go through struggle, commitments, ageing, sickness before death
Share the wealth more or less equally
To live in dignity, with positive approach
love all and bring up well the loved ones
be useful by choosing the right path
Life is immensely complex for one and all
Laws and traditions made to protect everyone,
But some are dangerous and make others
Insecure with no peace in life,
They give flower in one hand and
Thorn in other hand that pricks with endless pain
Our women and children are, helplessly looking for protection
Some may end life desperately with no one to help ,
Or be killed inhumanly by some
Laws alone will not be deterrent for the law breakers
Punishment if delayed becomes counter effective
Stringent punishment necessary and never takes place
A few become leaders by annexing power by crook or hook
Rule the people as well the nation and manipulate the common wealth for their gain
And destroy the fabrics of welfare
To become super humans or super GODS
And they manipulate to be the masters of everyone and everywhere.
Resulting in unleashing disorders everywhere
And the harmony is destructed right in front of everyone.
Yet we struggle to live in peace and harmony.
Experiencing with the truth never ending

THE BUBBLES

I have no colours, no shape, but I am in every living being,

Call me life or soul, giving life in you to live, to act,

Like the air in the bubble floating in the sky

Like the fragile spheres of soap film

Filled with air making you beautiful

And making to live graciously and purposefully

I have no differences and same in all,

Big or small does not make me change,

Strong or weak I am same, in you

But I may change you as your mind works,

Make you or destroy you by your action,

When I leave you, your body decays,

Or is destroyed in flames, but I am still there,

Like the air you inhale, like the air

That comes out from the bubble.

And the bubble is no more.

My by gone past

The past is still lingering in mind

My memory is not like the fallen leaves gone for ever.

The tharavad gave me life, born in the stingy dark room

Meant for delivery, or labour room in the Tharavad house

Attended the delivery by untrained local pathichi,

Brought in decorated single ox driven cart with all respect,

She is the “doctor” for all pregnant women in the village,

Her dictum no one question, her nod was needed in emergency to take

To hospital to attend serious medical problems,

She used kitchen knife to cut the umbilical cord,

Still survived without tetanus infection,

Complications in delivery no way to escape.

Many mothers and babies died after complication

Blaming the star of the child for mother’s death,

Hundreds of children were born in homes before mid half in nineteen century

With no immunizations, or medicines for ailment,

Treatments with arushittam or kasayam was must for mother,

Daily bath with Dhanuvantari oil helped her a lot

Calling local vydiyans for attending if any ailments,

The tharavad where many of my age groups and ancestors were born is no more

But the place now looks like a cemetery with a grave like Aara is protruding out

To symbolize that a famous Tharavada was here,

And calling me to look at it to remember the past with tears,

The life cycle changes and new culture creeps in

I never forget the past and my past moves around me

But the new generations turn their back at the past.

WHERE ARE WE GOING?

Where is our country moving, you in the board?
You are not one, like you there are
many ,many,
We the people feel that you judge the people harshly.
You are tarnishing the images of others who rise against you.
You never look into the positive sides of others’ quality.
You do not understand that to err is human, and no one is perfect.
You take only the negative side of the people near you..
You throw your rubbish on others premises after cleaning your premises.
It is usual culture in you. You never have microscopes for seeing you in.
You are clever in judging others with a wrong yardstick and then pass judgment.
You will never judge yourselves and see your true colour,
You do not want to know the success in life of others.
If some one succeeds, you try to imitate him /her and you blame then if you fail.
And pull them down if they succeed
You neither help nor protect the women folk,
You do not want them getting educated and you do not allow them to live without tears.
Yet you worship the Goddess of education Sarawathi , Goddess of wealth Lakshmi and Goddess of protection Eswari.
You call the earth the mother Earth and call the land you live Bharat Matha.and your women are treated like salves,
You try to damage all institution that questions you,.
You even question the supreme legal Institutions.
All procedures were given a go by to build an Empire of corruption
You want to be clean and the country’s capacity to defend almost jeopardized
You manipulate to govern the democratic coutry with family
And in all states family rules are only made possible
You weakened the party of the people of national character
No law to protect the democracy, from the clutches of family rule
You form a party to fight corruption,
Instead you start challenging the established law of the land
And putting an effort to confront everybody to create anarchy
Where is our country moving, you in the board?

In the media during the past few days we hear the allegation of corruption of siphoning off money from an organization named after Dr Zakir Hussain the third President of India. The organization was formed for helping the disabled. It is most unfortunate that an organization formed in Dr Zakir Hussain’s name alleged in indulging in corruption .
Dr Zakir Hussian was awarded the highest honour of the land, the Bharat Ratna for his great service to the nation. He served as the Governor of Bihar from 1957 to 1962 before he became the third President of India.. I was fortunate to hear his speech in Birla Institute of Technology ,Ranchi in 1958 when he was the Governor of Bihar. He started his speech by telling the life story of three professionals.
” An Engineer, a doctor and a lawyer who were all critically ill.Chitragupta the Chief of Hell interviewed the dying doctor first .What had you done while you served as Doctor? The doctor said he saved life of several people. The Chief of Hell checked his record and told the doctor that you did not save the life of the poor as they could not pay you. Therefore you should die and go to hell.
Next was the Lawyer interviewed? What had you done as a lawyer? Reluctantly the lawyer said that he helped several criminals from convictions. The Chief said you had not bothered about the sufferings of those people who suffered from the criminals. The best place for you should be the hell.
Then the engineer was questioned.. The Engineer said that he was in charge of the Hirakud dam which would be irrigating thousand of arid land in Sambalpur district and other places in Orissa. While doing his duty the contractor pushed the Engineer to the river Mahanadhi as the Engineer found that the contactor failed to carry out the works as per the specifications..
The Chief of Hell gave him life with a comment that you should live to continue to complete the work in the dam and if you were in Hell you might even convert the Hell to Heaven that should never take place “. The story ended.
Dr Zakir Hussain continued to say that thousands of dams across rivers may be constructed to irrigate the lands for increasing the food productions in India . Winding up the speech Dr Zakir Hussain said that all these three qualities, not joining with criminals, compassion to the poor and free from corruption, and serve the nation should be the qualities of politicians also as they are the true representatives of the people.

World demand for electricity increases by 2.3 percent per year from 2008 to 2035 and continues to outpace generation. World net electricity generation increases by 84 percent from 19.1 trillion kwh in 2008 to 25.5 trillion kwh in 2020 and 35.2 trillion kwh in 2035 In general, projected growth in developed countries, where electricity markets are well established and consumption patterns are mature, is slower than in developing countries, like India and China where a large amount of demand goes unmet at present. India needs to generate 4.5 lakhs MW of power by 2030 against 1.5 lakhs MW of installed capacity at present. Coal continues to be the fuel most widely used for electricity generation, although generation from nuclear power increased rapidly from the 1970s through the 1980s, and natural-gas-fired generation grew rapidly in the 1980s and 1990s. The use of oil for electricity generation has been declining since the mid-1970s, when oil prices rose sharply, Renewable, natural gas, nuclear power all are expected to advance strongly during the projection and will displace the need for coal-fired-generation in many parts of the world. India has to go for renewable and nuclear power generation also if it has to sustain power generation growth around 10%.per year.

R
ELIGION ,SCIENCE  AND GOD
Nobel Laureate Dan Shechtman said that" thin line separates science and religion: but in the frontiers of science there is not much of a difference between science and religion,” . I am a believer of God. I do not fully agree with the Nobel Laureate Dan Shechtman. I consider Science, Religion and Universe are the three corners of a equilateral triangle. Many God believers are inside the triangle ...equidistance from the corners. But the corners of the triangle have no major role in getting the grace of God. I believe that God's grace,or supreme energy is out side the triangle and God’s supreme energy is undefined and but exits everwhere but only your action allows or prevents the energy to reach you.One can make the side of the triangle thin or hard by his or her actions If you make the line thin of the triangle by your action the energy of God will reach you and you are graced by the Almighty. You can destroy yourself by making the line of triangle hard to prevent the energy reaching you. All religions teach you the way to go forward or to make the line thin to get the grace of God.

INDIA IS NOT SAFE FOR WOMEN,GIRLS AND CHILDEN.
In India no women, girls and children are safe even in cities. Mother India has become motherless India for these hapless.
Girls’ fetus is destroyed. Baby girls are maimed and thrown in garbage bins. Thousands of women and girls are sexually assaulted. Girls are drenched with acids by miscreants, students are punished to drink their urine or standing under the hot sun for hours or even subjected to worst punishment by the class teachers. Students suffering from some contagious diseases or whose parents suffering from HIV are asked to vacate the schools. Honour killing of lovers in the name of caste or family reputation has become a normal affair .Panchayats or Khaps Diktat to ban women and girls going out in night is like Talibanising the society. The darkest side of India is not seen yet by the media. Law and order maintaining authorities in many cases are mute spectators. or the authorities wake up for action too late under pressure. Is this India we live in?

MY FAVORITE PHILOSOPHY

Courtesy to the unknown Philosopher

A man with one watch knows what time it is. A man with two watches is never quite sure.

Don’t look where you fall, but look where you slipped.

Look at life through the wind-shield, not the rear – view mirror.

People may doubt what you say, but they will believe what you do.

Be nice to people on your way up, because you’ll need them on your way down.

Never explain your friends do not need it, and your enemies will not believe it.

While seeking revenge dig, two graves one for you.

Time you enjoyed wasting, was not wasted

Courage is not a lack of fear but the ability to act while facing fear.

You’ve got to do your own growing ,no matter how tall your father was.

Never compromise on basic principles.

TALENTS AND CHARACTER.

K.R Viswanathan Pillai

January 18

To some extent all people are talented. But some are more talented. Who are these talented people? What are their talents?Thousands are attracted to hear the voice of singers and every one will be wonderstruck, even jealous to hear extempore speeches of great orators God has blessed these singers, orators, handsome personalities, great painters, sportsmen and women , artists etc. These people are wealth to the society if they are superb in thier character. It is possible that a few talented people become leaders and lead a nation.Nothing wrong in leading the nation by these people if they are not self centred . But absence of overt character of some talented leaders who turn to politics, can  spell disaster to the country. They try to wriggle out the foundation of the good governance and bend the justice system to suit their convenience. In such a situation any country will turn out to be confluence of all sorts of violence, insurrection and terrorism

The leaders who care and respect the individuality of others are true leaders. They have the mental and moral qualities. The leaders need not be great orators, but should be able to carry the people as a whole forward.Such people should lead a nation or even a group of people

POWER SCENARIO

Articles and Posts( View Blog)

K.R Viswanathan Pillai

Saturday, February 6, 2010

As per Central Electricity Authority’s monthly update, India’s installed power generation capacity reached 144912.97 MW as of June 2008. The breakdown of the above by energy source was as follows: Coal (76648.88 MW), Gas (14716.01 MW), Diesel (1199.75 MW), Nuclear (4120 MW), Hydro (36033.76 MW) and other renewable energy sources (2194.57 MW).

Considering the fact that there has been significant increase in the power requirement in all states, and that it is likely to increase further in future, the Tamil Nadu Government is implementing projects for installing additional power generation capacity in this state. As per the government report, works for establishing power stations of 600 MW capacity at Mettur and 1200 MW capacity in North Chennai are under progress. Works for establishing 1600 MW capacity power station at Udangudi in Thoothukudi district in joint venture with Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) will commence soon. In the coming financial year2010-2011, the power generation capacity of Tamil Nadu will increase to 11,533 MW on commissioning of Koodankulam Atomic Power Plant and expansion project of Neyveli Lignite Corporation. By the end of 2011-2012 the projected demand for power in Tamil Nadu is 14000MW

At any given time the demand of power is always higher than the generation of power. Shortage and crisis will continue unless a national grid interconnecting southern grid to northern, northwestern and northeastern region is done. The grid system should be well managed. It should be made mandatory to maintain the plant load factor above 75%.in all power station. The consumption of power in thermal power stations for running its auxiliary equipments is at present around 9%. By proper management and using energy efficient drives the internal consumption of power in thermal power station could be brought down to 8%.

It is said that India plans to generate about 20,000 MW nuclear power by 2020. Of this, indigenous heavy water reactors will contribute 10,000 MW and plutonium-based reactors 2,000 MW. Around 8,000 MW will be generated through reactors being set up by overseas firms,

Large scale exploitation of wind , solar and biomass energy for power generation on war footing is to be initiated. Government plans ,to create 'solar valleys' and to install 20 million solar lights and 20 million square meters of solar panels to generate 20,000MW of electricity by 2020. India plans also to add 1300MW of solar power of which 1,100MW will be grid connected and 200MW will be off grid in the next three years.India revieves 4-7 kwh /day /sq: meter of solar energy averaged over a year.Potential of solar energy is enormous. The potential of biomass energy in the country is 18000MW.

Extract from Government report,

The 'National Solar Mission' is one of the eight mission under 'National Action Plan on Climate Change' is a major initiative to promote ecologically sustainable growth while addressing India's energy security challenge. It will also constitute a major contribution by India to meet the challenges of climate change. The National Solar Mission aims to promote the development and use of solar energy for power generation and other off-grid uses in the country. The Mission targets 20,000 MW solar powers, by 2020

TD LOSS

Will, the power sector be possible to achieve break-even at T&D loss levels of around 20 per cent or so?. While T&D losses of anything below 20 per cent means the power utilities in the country would start making operational profits, any higher loss levels would push the country's power sector into the red.

According to the Central Electricity Authority data, though the country's T&D losses have come down marginally by a percentage point from 33.54 per cent in 2002-03 to 32.53 per cent in 2003-04, the losses levels are nowhere close to the country plugging the leak in the power sector.

While the Government has tried to reduce the loss levels through efforts at metering of HT feeders and electronic consumer meter, energy accounting and auditing, the Centre's key reform project — the Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (APDRP) — has been perceived to be losing steam. In domestic and commercial levels and in industries usage of CFL and LED lighting is to be made compulsory. LED lights consume 80% less energy than the traditional incandacent bulbs. More over longer life and environment friendly LED lights are a better choice over incandacent bulbs. Organic LED lights are next generation of environmentaly friendly lights. These lights are reported to be 2.5 times more energy effiient than LED lights. It is said carbon emissions around the world could fall by 7.4 million tonnes by 2050 if all the modern lights are replaced by OLEDs.In agriculture sector and in industries in particular energy efficient drives are to be used to conserve energy. Idle running of electrical equipments are to be avoided. Any equipments running near to its full load is more efficient than that running idle or at reduced load.Selection of correct capacity of the motors for specific drives , is impotant for not only conserving power but also for reducing the reactive load in the grid.Power conserved by switching off unwanted equipments will ensure power for the needy.Energy efficient buildings based on average annual hourly energy performance index(AAhAPI)viz purchased and generated eletricity divided by built area in sqm plus total annual hours of operation should be rated and encouraged to come up in cities.

No power generated can be stored, but can be conserved by using it judiciously

ONAM FOR ALL

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

When Malayalees irrespective of caste or religions are celebrating Onam,as Mr Salim rightly told, I do not understand why we are not involving Tamilians also to join with us in the Onam celebration. Nairs in Kerala have changed a lot, and that was one of the reasons for the involvements of all Malayalees in Onam celebration. But Nairs in Chennai have to change a lot, in their outlook towards social integration, and tradition. TNSS has to take a lead in this matter.Hope Onam celebration should not be commercialized . During Onamcelebration it was told that Rs1000 Cr's worth,of liquor is sold in Kerala. Traditional way of celebrating Onam is not known to our children. Our children in Chennai are unheard of Thiruvathirakali, Talappanthukali, etc.

MIND AND BODY

Friday, September 18, 2009

True life comes from the activity of mind and the exercise of the body and the two are bound together. But body is the mirror of mind. Your look may change, and the most beautiful may turn ugly, but the mind may remain unchanged. Cultivate your mind to revolve around truth and the body may not deceive you.

TEACHERS

Wednesday, September 9, 2009

God has created mothers to rear children. To aid mothers God has created teachers to teach the children and to bring them as useful citizens. Teachers should love the children.Give the children the gift of knowledge. Motivate the children in learning. Care each and every children. Care the children more who need help and assistance in learning.Teachers should never be a machine of torture. They are instruments of   inspiration. The unchecked excesses of punishments inflicted on children by Teachers are dehumanizing the noble profession of teaching.I would like to quote here the well known poem of Pamela Glennwarner.

Bitter are the tears of a child; sweeten them

Deep are the thoughts of a child ;quiet them

Sharp is the grief of a child;take it from him or her

Soft is the heart of a child ;do not harden it.

THE UNCARED ONES

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

From birth the most unwanted baby has to face rough life, sometimes been thrown in the garbage bins ,collected by someone and mauled, disfigured even amputed ,to fit begging. The young life grows to become urchins ,rag lifters, or ragamuffins ,and lives with despair, sufferings and diseases and no one to console or shed tears or give hopes to live. There are many like him or her. The life goes on and hundreds are born daily to suffer. No one wants to help and take care of these hapless children in the so called civilised world

VALUES IN SOCIETY

Friday, June 26, 2009

Human beings are social animals .They need the company of others. It is natural therefore that they live in groups To keep them in society their behaviour towards others should be rational, responsive, and healthy. What make them united are the positive values of each individuals. Society draws values from the individuals, and the people get the values from religions and from educations. Religions once played a vital role in inculcating values. It taught the spirit of selflessness and moral reasoning. All religions are road to impart life skills of self awareness, empathy, and creative thinking. No one can claim that his /her religion is superior to other religions.Hatredness is the root cause of all troubles in society. When religious teachings are misconstrued, haterdeness breed against other religions.

RELIGIONS

Monday, June 22, 2009

All religions take you to God. No religions should propagate that other religions are inferior, and that a group of infidels follow it. Respect all religions even though you may not accept its preaching.

BECOMING RICH VERY FAST

People, not at all rich in real sense; have amazed wealth from a few lakhs to hundreds of crores within a short span of say three to five years time. We can understand people becoming reasonably rich from their income, after a long service ,if he or she holds a lucrative business or job. I think that these people who become very rich all on a sudden, might have resorted to illegal and wrong ways to acquire wealth. Unfortunately very few are caught by the tax authorities for the economical offences committed by these people. What is surprising is that once they reach the top of the ladder, they try to extend the ladder further and it is likely that they may fall done when they go up. They fail to understand that , the ladder stands on slippery ground. They disassociate with the people whose hands they held once to climb up the ladder. After becoming very rich they are in search of powerful individuals to boost up their status in society.

LIFE PATHS AND DEATH SPOTS

Monday, June 15, 2009

There need not be any doubt that God has created all living beings. For all living beings other than human beings God makes the life to move in parallel lines and to end the life in the line itself. But life of human beings moves in a circular path and death occurs in any spot in the path. If one leads a God fearing life he or she commits no wrong to anyone and is useful to society, then he or she completes the life circle in peace and the soul reaches the Almighty. But those who do not believe in God and live to harm others , will go tangent and go through the life paths far away from God.

THE UNKINDNESS CUT OF ALL

Monday, June 8, 2009

You might have spent all that you earned ,for educating your brothers and sisters. You might have met all expenses for their marriages too. You might have done all sacrifices for their well beings, and you might have felt satisfaction of having done so. But it could be the most unkindness cut of all if your brothers and sisters neglet you and condider you as an outsider.

CASTE AND RESEVATION

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Caste based reservation in jobs and in educations has done little good to the people who really need reservations. A very small number of people benifit from it while majority of backward people have been left out. The significant effect of resevation has been to widen the gap within different section of the people of the same castes and communities.Resevation is necessary for Dalits and for the downtrodden who is economically backward ,irrespective of caste or religion.

WHY DO PEOPLE HATE EACH OTHER?

Thursday, April 30, 2009

Why do people hate each other?. Why do they hate the language that others speak? Why do they hate other castes or religions ?Why do they hate the people from different states or even different countries ?It seems to hate is their culture It is surprising that the people who claim to be educated, cultured lead first in the hate campaign. The politicians try to reap fruits from these situations for their gains. They form political parties based on castes and religions. It is a dog -eat -dog world.Fairness, empathy, love and respect for others seem to have been lost.

Only solace for the aged and sick is their children. If you love them and bring them up well with fairness, they will take care of you.

Opinion - Letters to the Editor

With Pakistan ushering in an Islamic justice system in a big chunk of the North-West Frontier Province to buy peace in Swat Valley, it appears that the Taliban will take over the country soon. The army, for which the Taliban is an asset, will never allow democracy to take root in Pakistan. Is India ready to face the challenge posed by the latest development, given the Taliban's avowed objective of breaking it?

Caste Reservation and Nairs

By KR.Viswanathan Pillai
I quote here ,what Lord Wellington said, about Nairs “I like to see these nairs who never care their lives who lead an army of similar people even against mighty ocean of enemies and fight to win like a hell-fire’ What he said is very much true to the present context. I think Nairs never care very much for themselves. Earlier in 19th centuary they were to fight for Kings. Now they have to fight like ‘hell-fire’ for their existence.
Nairs are intelligent and blessed with talents. Many are well placed in national and international levels. Caste has remained an important factor in the Indian political system, primarily because of the politics of appeasement. The social and economical order of the world has become more complex. The life style of the people are fast changing.Economies of many developing countries like India, China etc are catching up with the developed countries. Every one looks for a better life. Inclusion of rich and influential people in caste based reservation is creating more social problems.
NAIR SERVICE SOCIETY.
Who is responsible for the classification of Nairs as forward? Several communities in many states of similar social and economical status of Nairs were classified as backward. The Nair Service Society a social organisation created in Kerala for the enlistment and welfare of the Nairs in Kerala in 1914.It was established by a great visionary Sri Mannathu Padmanabhan. He set up hundreds of karayogam /units of NSS. With his persistence, tireless efforts, and farsightedness the NSS started several educational institutions, hospitals, and socially beneficial programmes all over the State. NSS could not do much, to alleviate the sufferings of several poor Nair families in Kerala.
NSS consolidated and maintained the unity of Nair community. Several Nair families have to depend only on the crippled income from the lands of their own. Only a very few meritorious boys and girls could get admission in reputed higher educational institutions like IITs, AIIMS etc. Caste discriminations in our democratic society have led to emotional distress in these young people. The young boys and girls are pushed to a corner in their life on caste reasons. A few Nairs were fortunate enough to grab some jobs outside Kerala. Inside the State opportunities for jobs for Nairs are diminishing. It is same for others also.
I am at pains to write that Kerala invites industrialist with union flags, and bandhs. But other states provide slew of concessions to the industries and provide job opportunities for million of youngsters.
CASTE RESERVATION.
The people of India mainly Hindus are divided into many castes and sub-castes, as a result of centuries of practicing a form of social hierarchy called the.caste systems. Proponents of reservation policy says that the traditional caste system, as it is practised, leads to severe oppression and seggregation of freedoms, including education of people of lower strata.
Caste oppression, may be true at present against Dalits and most backwards. The rich in the socalled backward class communities practise the same caste discrmination against the Dalits and most backwards but reap the maximum benefit of reservation..The discrimination against the lower strata of the people by the socalled influential and rich backward communites are continuing with immpunity. The benefit of caste reservations is taken away by the rich in the backward community. The poor in these communities remains to be poor. The poor in all communties irrespective of the so called ‘forward or backward or religion’ should get the benefit of reservation in educations and jobs.
The Gujjar agitation is a lesson for the protagonists of caste and religion-based reservation. No government will dare to remove any caste from the reservation list even after 1000 years, and even after the so-called backward communities become forward. It is my opinion that caste base reservation should be abolished,. and economically weaker sections in any community should get the benefit of reservation.
The NSS in Kerala has taken a stand to be a non political social organization. It is time to change and start a new political party in Kerala for Nairs. Political bargaining powers of Nairs should be a force to be reckoned with in Kerala politics.. The poor Nairs are also to be enlisted as economically backward class and the benefit of reservation should be available to them also. So long as caste is a dominating force in politics, there is nothing wrong in having a separate political party for Nairs. I strongly believe that the National political parties in India should dominate in decision making, in the States and in the Central. At the same time the influence of regional political parties or caste based parties in governance of States or Central is a reality.
TAMIL NADU NAIR SERVICE SOCIETY (TNSS)
The people of ancient Kerala, which constituted the ancient territories of the Cheras spoke the Tamil language and had extensive interaction with the rest of the Tamil Nadu. It was only towards the ninth or the tenth centuries, their individual identity and language began to evolve to Malayalam after the influence of Aryans settlement in the west of Sahyadri A number of sociologists are of the view that the Nairs are not indigenous to Kerala and they migrated to Kerala in the 9th century as many customs and traditions distinguish them from others in Kerala. Nairs played an amazing role in the social ,cultural and ethical life of the medieval Kerala
In Tamil Nadu alone there are around six lakhs Nairs mainly spread in Kanyakumari district and in Chennai. Almost all of them consider Tamil Nadu as their home state. Their contribution to social and economical field in Tamil Nadu is immence..They maintain harmonious relation with all other communities in Tamil Nadu. They also have continious interaction with their realations in Kerala.
The TNSS has to spread its wings to all parts of the State and should enroll almost all Nairs in its fold. TNSS remains only as social organisation . Certain castes which are forward in Tamil Nadu and Andra Pradesh are backward in Kerala. The argument against Nairs, is that when Nairs are forward in Kerala how could Nairs in Tamil Nadu be backward.?.
A Commission for Economically Backward Classes, is appointed by Central Government to elecit the suggestions of State Governments on the criteria for identitying the economically backward classes and recommending measures and quantum of reservation in education and government employment. Will the poor Nair be included in the list as per the new criteria?
TNSS is at present in its infant stage. How long it remains to be infant?. It is time to grow.It needs more members ,more money to work with. At present the office bearers are hard pressed for want of money to own an office at Chennai. The very rich in the Nair community have not yet been identified or enrolled. I hope TNSS will be soon become a powerful social organisation in Tamil Nadu.

 UPA Govt & SP

THE HINDU dated 11/07/2008

With the support of a regional party such as the SP, known for its links with big business, the UPA government will find it difficult to govern. K.R. Viswanathan Pillai,

President Kalam should not have been dragged into the second term controversy. He has taken the correct decision to stay out of the race. THE HINDU dated 16.11.2006 - Pavement Dwellers and Superpower

Lakhs of Mumbai's poor are pavement dwellers, facing the risk of being mowed down by vehicles driven by reckless drivers. The plight of the poorest in other cities is no different. The Greedy Horseman

(Courtesy to Sri Appoothy)

A long time ago, there was an Emperor who told his horseman that if he could ride on his horse and cover as much land area as he likes, then the Emperor would give him the area of land he has covered.Sure enough, the  horseman quickly jumped onto his horse and rode as fast as possible to cover as much land area as he could. He kept on riding and riding, whipping the horse to go as fast as possible. When he was hungry or tired, he did not stop because he wanted to cover as much area as possible. The horseman came to a point when he had covered a substantial area and he was exhausted and was dying. Then he asked himself, "Why did I push myself so hard to cover so much land area? Now I am dying and I only need a very small area to bury myself."

The above story is similar with the journey of our Life. We push very hard everyday to make more money,to gain power and recognition. We neglect our health, time with our family and to appreciate the surrounding beauty and the hobbies we love.

One day when we look back, we will realize that we don't really need that much, but then we cannot turn back time for what we have missed. Life is not about making money, acquiring power or recognition. "People in the process of earning a living should not forget to live" Have a joyful day .. full of life."

All mankind is divided into three classes: those who are immovable, those who are movable; and those who move." -- Benjamin Franklin

Environmental Governance.

The environmental pollution and degradation, and depletion of natural resources in an alarming level threaten the very existence and survival of humans and all other living species. The integrity of the earth and its biodiversity, the security of nations, and the heritage of future generations. are all seriously threatened due to  climate change.Quality and quantity of rain affected by SO2 released from coal burnt factories increases acid rains. In 1990 a concerted effort was made by the participated nations to roll back CO2 and SO2 emission by as much as 30% compared to the the1980 level. Oxide of nitrogen (NOX) level emitted by vehicles is also increasing due to number vehicles on roads. The main greenhouse gas CO2 rose to a record level .Forest fires contributed more to increase the level of CO2. During 1970 to 2000 the CO2 level increased by 1.5ppm .Since 2001 CO2 level is increasing by 2.6ppm. Climate changes due to increase in CO2 level changes the weather pattern. Bleak picture of increasing poverty, paucity of drinking water, melting glaciers, and polar ice caps, and a host of vanishing species by the 2050 unless action is taken to curb emissions of carbon dioxide and other green gases According to a United Nations report, climate change will have a significant damage to all continent generating more storms and heat waves, causing droughts, the extinction of some species. The Intergovernmental panel on climate changes has warned that by the end of this century every hemisphere will face water –related problems. The Ganges, Brahmaputra, and Indus will become seasonal rivers, dry between monsoons as Himalaya’s glaciers will continue their retreat. Water tables will continue to fall, or grow more saline. Crop productivity will fall, as temperature rise in India by as much as 1.2 degree C on average by 2040. and by the end of this century the temperature rise could be around 5.4 degree C. Sea levels will rise at least 40cms by 2100 inundating vast areas in coastline, including some of the thickly populated cities. People will be forced to migrate.

These are the major challenges due to climate changes

It is reported that large amounts over 1.5 trillion tonnes of frozen carbon about twice as much as contained in the atmosphere are stored in the Arctic regions. The Arctic carbon may worsen climate change if temperature rise by 2 degrees C over the pre-industrial levels. The developing nations wanted the developed countries to commit themselves to significant reductions in green gas emissions by 80% below the 1990 levels by 2050 (the date of Kyoto protocol level) and also an interim target of cutting emissions for the industrial nations by 40 per cent by 2020. In the L'Aquila. Italy developed countries committed themselves to reduce the emissions level by 80% by2050 and called on the rest of the world to move towards the goal of reducing overall global emissions by 50 per cent by 2050.
China has voluntarily announced that it will deuce cabon emission per unit og GDP to 40-50%of 2005 by 2020.India announced 20-255 of carbon emmission intensity by 2020.

God's Own People

By K.R.Viswanathan Pillai

We know that Kerala is the God’s own land. No land in this world is so beautiful as Kerala and all Keralites are proud that Kerala is called as ‘God’s own land’ But in the land of God, do the people, be called as God’s own people? No, God’s own people are everywhere in any place and in any community or any religion. The Hindus believe that the God was born as human being in several incarnations to protect the world against treacherous people. God incarnated to bring harmony and destroy the devil in man. No religion encourages hatredness between people. Religion teaches spiritual values, and to live in harmony with other living beings and the nature. Love all living beings is the truth, but the triumph of truth is waning. Our tradition, and culture today are giving way to western way of life. Frequent bandh, political killing, violence against women children and the aged are the order of the day. The society is at the crossroads. It suffers unprecedented onslaught of nefarious, and selfish people. The common men and women face unbridled corruption at all levels in their own government. The poverty, illiteracy and poor health burdened the society. The nature is destroyed for gains. The government is coming out with economical growth rate figure, anticorruption drive, and pledge to protect  women and children, health and education for all. We struck to believe in the propaganda of our own power. People want to lift themselves up. Still we have India’s amazing religious spirit, our determination to serve the community, our tolerance and family tradition We have several non-government societies and associations to supplement t he governments in taking up welfare measures. There are people who are born to serve. They are the God’s own people
